How we do it..

With a wealth of experience in the application of advanced composites engineering, we are confident that we could tackle any challenge thrown our way.

Our Capabilities & Technologies

5-Axis CNC Machining

We have capability for machining within our facility, made possible by our MAKA (MM7T) 5-Axis CNC Milling Machine, with a machining envelope of 3×1.5×0.7m. This can be used to machine foam cores for projects as well as producing master patterns. We are constantly looking to expand our machine capabilities to be able to offer better methods of production to our customers.

Ovens and Autoclaves

At Kamm we have curing capability from both autoclaves and ovens. The capacity of the autoclave is of 1.5m diameter and 4m deep, with the capacity of the Dalby oven at 4x7x2m.

Eastman Eagle-C3 Kit-Cutting Machine

With the ability to produce pre-cut laminate sets, we not only decrease waste, but speed up the manufacturing process meaning we can provide a more cost-effective and higher quality product to our customers.

We are also very proud to announce that we are the UK demonstration facility for Eastman Machine Company.

Design Processes

Design processes include; tooling design, machining and manufacture, jig and fixture design, manufacturing process design as well as laminate schedule design and material specification.

Our management team have a wealth of experience within the industry and possess a wide range of process and engineering knowledge, which has been adopted to assist in the realisation of high profile projects over the years. Supported by expertise in programs such as SolidCAM, SolidWorks and PowerInspect to support tooling activities.

Paint and Finishing

Post-process finishing is a key part of composite manufacturing to ensure products meet design specifications.

With facilities such as our post-process trimming booth and Dalby spray booth, we offer our customers the highest quality products, to the specification they desire.

Quality Standards

We specialise in the manufacture of Polyurethane and Fibre-Reinforced Plastic products utilising closed mould techniques for a wide range of industries.

Our management team have a wealth of experience within the industry and possess a wide range of process and engineering knowledge, which has been adopted to assist in the realisation of high profile projects such as the original Gibbs Aquada amphibious vehicle and the Bentley State Limousine.

Market Segments

Composite manufacturing is one of the most versatile and broadly-applicable manufacturing processes available. Our complete turnkey service, producing enclosures and components, encompasses a diverse range of market segments including:

Automotive

We have a longstanding history of work within the automotive industry, working with prestigious partners in the low volume niche markets. Our ingenuity and expertise with the market enables us to bring cutting-edge design to new or existing products quickly and affordably.

The physical properties and aesthetics of carbon fibre are the main reasons for the increasing popularity. In addition to this, the low cost of tooling allows us deal with requests for both one off projects as well as production runs.

Aerospace

The aerospace market is one of the largest markets for the composites industry, with both military and commercial aircraft increasingly making use of composite solutions inside and out. We are fully equipped to deal with requests for designs and production.

Renewable Energy

Carbon fibre is an ideal material for much of the equipment required in today’s high technology renewable energy sector. The high strength to weight ratio makes it an ideal solution for renewable energy products, especially wind turbine blades.

Medical

The usage of composites and carbon fibre in particular is steadily growing in the market for medical supplies and machinery. The reasons that we have identified for this occurrence are firstly: the lightweight characteristics of the materials for use in handheld instruments, and secondly; the cost effective nature of moulding complex shapes over fabricating the same from metals.

We have prior experience with the industry sector and are more than willing to have a look at designs and plans no matter how specialist they seem.

Bespoke & Speciality

From our extensive knowledge of polyurethane and fibre reinforced plastics materials, coupled with our proficiency for closed mould engineering techniques, we help our customers to develop truly innovative and bespoke products.

We can provide:

  • Product analysis to meet specifications
  • Reverse engineering of products
  • Design of tooling and components for existing parts or a new concept design
